One little word...
I was reading Ali Edwards blog post today about her 2009 One Little Word. She's done it for a few years & I thought it was cool, but never did anything about it. For some reason...lack of sleep...lack of coffee, maybe? It really struck me today. So I've been on dictionary.com all morning trying to come up with my word. I have several in the running & I'll share my word with you very soon (right now I'm leaning towards delight or maybe balance and now maybe sparkle). Anyone up for doing this with me? Read Ali's post first and enter a comment to win one of her cool prizes (I REALLY want one of them!) and then come back here to post your word. You can even copy & paste what you post on Ali's blog here. After the coffee kicks in I'll let you know what we'll do with those words...words are so powerful....I'll get back to you soon!

My word is thankfulness. There is so much negativity in the world and it is so easy to get bogged down with that. I want to focus on being thankful for everything; even little things.
"In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."

I have 4 words that are competing - Charm, Flair, Delight and Extravagance. I hope one of them speaks loudly to me soon.

Persevere sums it up for me. It reminds me to keep moving towards accomplishing my goals and dreams no matter what life may throw at me.

My word is carpe diem. According to dictionary.com it means seize the day; enjoy the present as opposed to placing all hope in the future. I am always concerned with what will happen tomorrow instead of enjoying this day in all that it has to offer.

My word is NOURISH.
1. to sustain with food or nutriment; supply with what is necessary for life, health, and growth.
2. to cherish, foster, keep alive, etc.
First, because I've resolved to cook at home much more this year so Matt and I can have a healthier diet. And second, because I want to nourish our new marriage because I hear all the time that the first year is the hardest.

My word for the year is going to be rest. This quote from the book "Captivating" by John and Staci Eldrige has shown me how important it is for me to be at rest and to allow others who I am in relationship with to rest. "A WOMAN OF TRUE BEAUTY IS A WOMAN WHO IN THE DEPTHS OF HER SOUL IS AT REST, TRUSTING GOD BECAUSE SHE HAS COME TO KNOW HIM TO BE WORTHY OF HER TRUST. SHE EXUDES A SENSE OF CALM, A SENSE OF REST, AND INVITES THOSE AROUND HER TO REST AS WELL."

My word for 2009 is FOCUS. I am going to focus on what is most important to me. I have been wasting a lot of energy and time on things that I have no control over and worring about them. This year I am going to focus on what is important to me and let the rest take care of itself.

I haven't settled on a word yet myself either, but just posted about it (and last year's word) on my blog earlier this afternoon.
